New Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War Is Here (Almost)

Lo and behold! All the talk about the new Call Of Duty game has been proven to be true. People already kind of knew about this (thanks to a bag of Doritos) but now it is official.

The complete name of the upcoming first-person shooter is Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War.

This is just a teaser. The first trailer reveals featuring actual in-game footage will be revealed on 26 August 2024.

Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War Explained

So far, the video we have at hand is a teaser giving us an idea about the circumstances of the story of the Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War.

It is important to note that video wasn’t just dropped randomly by developers, But actually first figured out by fans in an Alternate Reality Game (ARG) on the website Pawntakespawn. It took players almost a month to figure out and solve mysteries like in the times of the Cold War, which led them to explore and discover some secrets in the Call Of Duty Warzone’s map ‘Verdansk’. There were also several actual tapes that were from the times of the Cold War on the ARG website.

It is quite obvious from the title that the story of the game is set around actual geopolitical tension that existed until the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. This is not all. Interestingly enough, the trailer features snippets of a speech from an actual person named as ‘Yuri Bezmenor’, who was a whistleblower from the notorious KGB (See the actual CIA files from CIA reading library on him here), giving a startling commentary in an actual interview which was taken in 1984. See the interview here:

In the Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War trailer, It is mentioned that KGB spy informs of infiltration into ‘Western Intelligence’ by a Soviet spy codename for whom is ‘Perseus’ (Read an actual article about ‘Perseus’ from the CIA archives). The sole purpose of the infiltration by ‘Perseus’ is to “Subvert the US” in order to “ensure Soviet dominance is the Arms race.”

In real life according to Wikipedia, and the trailer as well, ‘Perseus’ was never caught and infiltrated deep into the defense institutions of the US.

The defector goes step by step explaining how the subversion is working and then warns of a “Disaster” coming closer. There are protest footages which seem to be authentic.

Finally, the trailer ‘almost’ closes with the following quote;

2nd quote call of duty black ops cold war

Hence, all of this points to a possibility that the game is set to be around actual events that took place around the 1970s or something

However, there is no actual Call Of Duty Black Ops: Cold War gameplay footage in the trailer at all.

One might be tempted to ask some questions after watching the Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War teaser. Such as;

First, “What is the game actually like?” and quite honestly, there is no answer to that so far as the trailer features no in-game footage. However, as promised by Activision and as ‘Verdansk’ is mentioned in the official youtube video description, we do know that Call of Duty Warzone will be tied to Call Of Duty Black Ops: Cold War.

and secondly, “Is the game going to be cross-gen or current-gen only? there is no information on that of any kind so far.

As we already knew, the game has been in development by Raven Software and Treyarch and might be out by October or November of this year.

We might also be looking at a new Call Of Duty Warzone map. The zombie mode might also be coming back to Call Of Duty Black Ops: Cold War.
