Two months after the next-generation PlayStation 5 gaming console’s details and design surfaced, the registration page has gone live.
Booking and registrations for pre-orders by Sony has been opened for the PlayStation 5, but the good news has brought a bit of disappointment for some.
Sony is letting current PlayStation customers with PSN Online IDs to apply for a pre-order booking. But as of now, The console doesn’t have a price or release date. Those who are for bookings are not even guaranteed a pre-order console because these bookings are on a first-come-first-serve basis and Sony says consoles are of “limited quantity”, And shall be awarded on “previous interests and PlayStation activities.”
How To Pre-Order PlayStation 5
To pre-order the upcoming PlayStation 5 console, Sony has sent invites for online registration for customers to order and be one of the first to own PlayStation 5, directly from the company.
This holiday season, there will be a “limited quantity of PlayStation 5 consoles available for pre-order”, According to the company.
In order to pre-order the upcoming console, The invitation program is the only opportunity for existing PlayStation customers to get their shot.
On Wednesday, the company said in a statement “There will be a limited quantity of PlayStation 5 consoles available for pre-order, so we will be inviting some of our existing consumers to be one of the first to pre-order one from PlayStation,”.
He further added.
“Pre-order reservations will be taken on a first-come-first-serve basis, so once you get an invite via email, we encourage you to follow instructions and act fast,”
With complete PlayStation 5 accessories and two of the all-new, integrated with latest tech DualSense controllers. Each booking shall be granted just a single console per customer.
It should also be noted, It is at the moment, not sure whether registrations will open up for other regions in the near future. Because to pre-order, one must have a US address to ship the PlayStation 5.
Due to the increased demand for gaming amid the Covid-19 pandemic, production of the console to 10 million units by the end of this year is being pushed by Sony.
PlayStation 5 Specifications
The PlayStation 5 will still support discs with a 4K Blu-ray drive. However, installation to the internal SSD shall still be required, for that purpose, it shall have a custom 825GB SSD and 16GB of GDDR6 RAM. The consle shall also have a strong custom GPU based on AMD’s RDNA 2 architecture hardware that will provide a whopping 10.28 teraflops and 36 compute units clocked at 2.23GHz, and another high powered custom eight-core AMD Zen 2 CPU clocked at 3.5GHz.
PlayStation 5 will be remarkably popular, Sony knows this for a fact. The company tends to be suggesting that there is a scarcity of consoles, so it is bound to be irritating for some fans.
It could be that Sony had no choice actually if we consider pandemic of COVID 19. Due to the pandemic sony may have to opt for delaying tactics such as this reservation system. If due to the pandemic the production of the consoles has been slow then in order to get some consoles sold while supply catches up with demand.
